Which camera is better canon advanced or digital slr?

i need help buying a camera i want my pictures to come out professionaly like the ones you see in magazines and stuff. clear, crisp colors and every detail captured, also which mega pixels are the best for crystal clear imagery? is anything above 7.0 MP good? thnks!
