My eyelid randomly twitching?

Why is it twitching? It's the space right below my left eyebrow, but right above my left eyelid. It just started this morning when I woke up. It's very very very annoying, and it's steadily getting worse. It goes from a twitch about once a minute to very fast, multiple twitches in the span of 10 seconds. When I close my eye it slows down a lot. I never had this happen before - the only time my eye would twitch was when it was something in my eye, but it was never this spot. I heard it can come from a great deal of stress, but the most stressful time of life has ped and my eye never twitched before when I was going through that stress....
